Dunkirk ------------------------------------------------ It's not a typical war movie to begin with. If you go for this movie keeping conventions used to make war movies till now in mind, it might surprise you. Dunkirk doesn't have many dialouges, no character comes with back story, there is no emphasis on making hero out of any of them, there is no stumoch wrenching violence and there is little drama or emotional backdrop to make your eyes moist. Still Dunkirk works. Refusal of being another conventional war movie makes it path breaking epic. Dunkirk is survival story of defeated soldiers trying to retreat to homeland. They are being bombarded from all sides by Nazis and Nolan put us between them, like we are one of them. Dunkirk grabs you by your neck from first scene and never lets you breath easily. Came across thought provoking, beautifully placed and rare of its kind science fiction movie 'Arrival' few days back. It is rare because it deals with complicated scenario of 'first contact' between two intelligent species who have their own communication techniques. There are countless movies and science fiction stuff which shows extra-terrestrial beings as threat to our planet and their clear intention of invading our planet. Arrival is unique in a way that it picks a middle way; what if some completely unknown (in all senses) beings, one day visit our planet and just station their ships without giving any clue of their intention.. What we will do? Arrival tries to find answers and succeeds on most fronts. Although, it was satisfying watch but it didn't completely give all answers this interesting and highly open ended scenario. Human nature is naturally of explorer. पाऊस धो धो कोसळतोय. सकाळपासून जणू काही आकाशाने आपली पोतडी ओलेत्या जमिनीवर रिती करावी तशी झड लागली आहे.. ओल्या रस्त्यांवर फुटणारे टपोरे थेंब येणारी जाणारी वाहने निर्दयीपणे आपल्या पायांखाली तुडवत आहेत, पण त्या बिचारया थेंबांना त्याचे काही नाही! विजांच्या नर्तनात ते लागोपाठ निसरडया रस्त्याला आहुती जात आहेत! मी आपला केव्हापासुन बस स्टॉपच्या शेडच्या आडोश्याने ही पावसाळी गम्मत पाहतोय! बस अशीच लेट करत राहो असे वाटत राहते. खरं तर मला पाऊस खुप आवडतो. वर्षभर तो असाच धो धो का पडत राहत नाही ह्या प्रश्नाचं उत्तर मात्र ढग देत नाहीत.. भस्कन् अंगावर आल्यासारखा अक्राळ विक्राळ आवाज काढत जाणारा डम्पर शेडच्या पागोळीची धार थोडीशी माझ्या अंगावर रीती करुन मात्र जातो! एक छत्री लगबगीने डबक्यांना चुकवत शेडच्या आडोश्याला येते. क्षणभर मला हा शेड वाळवंटातल्या एओसिस सारखा वाटायला लागतो! पण क्षणभरच, छत्रीला चुकवून आलेल्या काही चुकार थेंबांना हुसकावून लावणाऱ्या केसांची बट माझे लक्ष वेधुन घेते.. क्षणभर! आपल्या ओलेत्या केसांना सरळ करण्यासाठी ती मान वळवते.. एक विज लखकन् माझ्या मेंदुतुन आरपार जाते.. ती.. ती
