Eureka! Gravitational waves are finally detected!!
Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory(LIGO) scientists have directly detected presence of gravitational waves! This is one stupendous achievement for astronomy and mankind which is first of its kind in history! Gravitational waves are ripples caused in fabric of space-time (they are linked and appear like a sheet together) by some cosmic event caused by heavy objects like explosion of heavy stars or collision of black holes. Its same effect like if you drop a heavy object in water pond or dropping a ball on mattress, it will create outward waves simultaneously stretching and compressing matter (mattress or water body) while passing through it. Einstein first proposed presence of gravitational waves 100 years back in his theory of general relativity, and today he ptoved himself correct yet again! This tells what kind of genius he was!
