Class of 2007

"In the airrrrr, Sreesanth takes it. India win"
Ravi Shastri screamed from commentary box and after split second, realizing Misbah actually missed that scoop, entire nation went into frenzy. History was created, India became winner of inaugural T20 World Cup!
Still remember that evening and thrill of watching that roller-coaster finale in a roadside garage among some 20-30 Cricket fanatics.. gosh! 10 years have already passed, hard to believe..
India, fresh after debacle of 2007 50 Overs world cup, was looking for redemption and fielded young team under rookie Dhoni. Honestly, no one would have believed they could lift the cup, but they did spread a magic! Dhoni's unvonventional tactics and some raw energy sail them through.
Yuvraj, Dhoni, Pathan, Gambhir, Rohit, RP Singh, Shreesanth everyone contributed at crucial times.
This was class of 2007; young, fearless, agile and hungry. They set template for how India played in next decade. It was start of an era of captaincy under Dhoni.

Today when we look back to class of 2007, nostalgia takes over.
Young Dhoni is legend now and have every trophy is in his shelf. His long hair have given way to trimmed gray ones and he is still lightning quick behind stumps.
Yuvraj, then fearless young man, became hero of another World Cup in 2011, faught cancer made several comebacks and still hanging there but with mere a shadow of his once self.
Gambhir, like Yuvraj, played two glorious knocks in two world cup finals, tasted success in Test Cricket and now struggling for come back 10 years on. His partner, Sehwag is retired as a legend.
Rohit, newbie then is now mainsty of Indian ODI and T20 batting.
Harbhajan, almost retired and with no chance to comeback.
Irfan Pathan, still struggling after brief early promising start. Case of Yusuf is no different.RP, Joginder faded in oblivion after year or so.
Shreesanth, like an enigma, destroyed himself in IPL spot fixing scandal.
Dinesh Karthik and Robin Uthappa, they are unluckiest of all. They never got longer rope to show their potential and still hanging around.
After 10 years, we might not see all of them playing together again but memories they gave during span of those 20 days are enough to last for years.
Yuvraj hitting Broad for 6 sixes, had become sort of legend and can't remember how many times that clip is being played on loop. In those days, everyone was watching it at everywhere, such was an aura!
Wild celebration that we did that night after final, still echoing fresh in my ears!
